IELTS Study Plan and Speaking Mock Tests to Achieve Band 7+
Candidate: Mr. Abhishek Das
Examiner: Krishna Kumar Sharma
PART 1
Do you use a computer?
Answer:
Yes, absolutely. I use a computer on a daily basis because most of my professional responsibilities depend on it. As a government employee, I spend a significant portion of my working hours using a computer for official tasks. In addition, I also use my personal computer at home for IELTS preparation, online learning, and entertainment purposes.
How often do you use a computer?
Answer:
To be honest, I use a computer almost every day. During office hours, I typically spend around eight to ten hours working on a computer. Even after returning home, I often use it for studying, browsing the internet, and improving my professional skills.
What kinds of activities do you do on a computer?
Answer:
I use my computer for a variety of activities. Primarily, I handle official tasks such as preparing documents, managing spreadsheets, and communicating through email. Besides that, I occasionally play online games or watch educational videos to relax and refresh my mind after a busy day.
How important is a computer to you?
Answer:
A computer is an integral part of my daily life. In today’s digital world, it is almost impossible to perform many professional tasks without basic computer skills. Therefore, I consider it an essential tool for both my career and personal development.
What computer skills do you have?
Answer:
I am quite proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, which I regularly use in my workplace. In particular, I enjoy working with Excel because it helps me organize and analyze data efficiently. I also possess basic internet research and communication skills.
PART 2
Describe a Historical Place You Would Like to Visit
Sample Band 8–9 Answer
I’d like to talk about a historical place that I would love to visit, namely Wari-Bateshwar, one of the most significant archaeological sites in Bangladesh.
It is located in Narsingdi District, not very far from Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh.
I first learned about this place when I was studying in secondary school. Later, I came across several videos and articles about it on social media, which further increased my interest.
What fascinates me most about Wari-Bateshwar is its historical significance. It is believed to be one of the earliest urban settlements in the region and provides valuable insights into ancient civilization.
I would like to visit this place because I am genuinely interested in history and archaeology. Exploring historical sites helps people understand their cultural heritage and appreciate the struggles and achievements of previous generations.
Unfortunately, due to my busy work schedule, I haven’t had the opportunity to visit it yet. However, I definitely plan to explore it in the near future.
I believe visiting this remarkable historical site would be both educational and memorable.
PART 3
Do you think everyone should visit historical places?
Answer
Yes, I certainly do.
Historical places play a vital role in helping people understand their nation’s culture, heritage, and history. They provide valuable educational experiences, especially for students, who can gain practical knowledge beyond what they learn in textbooks.
Moreover, visiting such places often inspires a greater appreciation for historical events and national identity.
Why are public buildings important?
Answer
Public buildings are extremely important because they provide essential services and facilities for local communities.
For example, libraries, museums, community centers, and government offices serve as places where people can access information, participate in social activities, and receive important services.
Additionally, public buildings help strengthen social connections and promote community engagement.
Why do people need public buildings in their communities?
Answer
People need public buildings because they serve various practical and social purposes.
For instance, community centers allow residents to interact with one another, while libraries and museums offer educational opportunities. Furthermore, public buildings often act as gathering places during important events and emergencies.
As a result, they contribute significantly to community development.
What kinds of public buildings do people like visiting in your country?
Answer
In Bangladesh, people enjoy visiting a wide range of public buildings.
Some of the most popular ones include museums, historical monuments, libraries, and cultural centers. The National Museum in Dhaka, for example, attracts visitors of all ages because it showcases the country’s rich history and cultural heritage.
Many people also visit these places to learn new things and spend quality time with their families.
What is more important for a public building: design, location, or facilities?
Answer
In my opinion, location is probably the most important factor.
Even if a building has excellent facilities and an attractive design, people may not visit it frequently if it is difficult to access.
A convenient location ensures that visitors can easily reach the building using public transportation or other means of travel.
However, facilities and design are also important because they improve the overall visitor experience.
Is the appearance of a building important?
Answer
Yes, absolutely.
The appearance of a building creates the first impression and often influences people’s decision to visit it.
An attractive and well-maintained building can generate curiosity and encourage visitors to explore it further. Additionally, aesthetically pleasing architecture often reflects a country’s culture and identity.
Which is more important: preserving old buildings or constructing new ones?
Answer
From my perspective, preserving old buildings is slightly more important.
Ancient structures and heritage buildings represent a nation’s history, traditions, and cultural identity. Once these historical landmarks are destroyed, they can never be fully replaced.
That being said, new buildings are also necessary to accommodate modern needs and population growth. Therefore, I believe governments should strike a balance between preservation and development.
