If you are standing in front of 1,000 people at a conference, seminar, medical congress, leadership event, or international gathering, your speech should not sound like a simple self-introduction. It should sound inspirational, confident, and engaging.
Good morning, respected guests, distinguished speakers, honored colleagues, and ladies and gentlemen.
It is both a privilege and a pleasure to stand before you today and share a little about my journey.
My name is Dr. Md. Gulam Rabbani, although many people know me as Dr. Roky. I come from Dhaka, Bangladesh, a vibrant city that has shaped my character, values, and aspirations. I was raised in a loving and supportive family, where I learned the importance of hard work, integrity, compassion, and lifelong learning.
From an early age, I was fascinated by science and inspired by the noble profession of medicine. This passion eventually led me to pursue my medical education at Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogura, where I completed my MBBS degree and began a journey that continues to challenge, inspire, and transform me every single day.
Today, I serve as a Senior Medical Officer at an ENT Hospital. Before assuming this role, I had the opportunity to work as an Assistant Registrar in the Department of Plastic Surgery. Throughout my professional journey, I have witnessed moments of pain, uncertainty, courage, and hope. Every patient I meet teaches me something new—not only about medicine but also about humanity.
As healthcare professionals, we are entrusted with something incredibly valuable: the lives and well-being of others. This responsibility reminds me every day that medicine is not simply a profession; it is a commitment to service, empathy, and continuous improvement.
Although surgery remains my greatest passion, I am equally fascinated by fields such as Intensive Care Medicine, Coronary Care Medicine, and Nephrology. I strongly believe that true excellence comes from remaining curious, embracing lifelong learning, and constantly pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zones.
However, my journey is not solely defined by hospitals and operating rooms. Outside of medicine, I enjoy outdoor sports and music, which help me maintain balance, resilience, and a positive outlook on life. These interests remind me that personal growth is just as important as professional achievement.
As I look toward the future, my ambition is to become a highly skilled surgeon capable of making meaningful contributions to patient care and medical advancement. I aspire to pursue advanced surgical training and higher education on an international platform, allowing me to gain global experience and bring that knowledge back to benefit the communities I serve.
One lesson I have learned throughout my journey is that knowledge alone is not enough. Communication, collaboration, and the ability to connect with people are equally important. This realization has motivated me to improve my English communication skills under the guidance of my mentor, Krishna Kumar Sharma, at Manchester English Academy Bangladesh. Every step of this learning journey is helping me become not only a better communicator but also a better healthcare professional.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Success is not a destination. It is a continuous journey of learning, adapting, and growing. Every challenge we face carries an opportunity to become stronger, wiser, and more capable than we were yesterday.
I stand before you today not as someone who has achieved everything, but as someone who is still learning, still growing, and still striving to become the best version of himself.
Thank you for your valuable time, your attention, and your presence. I wish you all success, good health, and a future filled with endless opportunities.
Thank you very much.

Hi everyone!
My name is Md. Gulam Rabbani, but most people call me Roky. Since I’m a doctor, many of my friends and colleagues also know me as Dr. Roky.
I was born and brought up in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and I currently live there with my family. We are a family of five, including my parents and three siblings. I’m very close to my family, and they have always been a great source of support and inspiration in my life.
Talking about my education, I completed my schooling and college education in Dhaka. Later, I graduated with an MBBS degree from Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogura.
At the moment, I’m working as a Senior Medical Officer at an ENT Hospital. Before this, I worked as an Assistant Registrar in the Plastic Surgery Department, where I gained a lot of practical experience and learned many valuable clinical skills.
What I enjoy most about being a doctor is helping people and making a positive difference in their lives. Every day brings new challenges and new learning opportunities, which keeps my work interesting and rewarding.
Although surgery is my main area of interest, I’m also curious about other medical specialties such as ICU, CCU, and Nephrology. I strongly believe that learning should never stop, especially in the medical profession.
When I’m not working, I enjoy playing outdoor sports and musical instruments. These activities help me relax, stay active, and maintain a good balance between my professional and personal life.
Looking ahead, my dream is to become a highly skilled surgeon and pursue advanced training abroad. To prepare for that goal, I’m currently improving my English communication skills, especially speaking. I’m fortunate to be learning under the guidance of my mentor, Krishna Sir, at Manchester English Academy Bangladesh.
That’s a little bit about me. Thank you for listening, and I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you better.
Ultra-Casual Version (30–45 Seconds)
Hey everyone!
I’m Gulam Rabbani, but you can call me Roky. I’m from Dhaka, Bangladesh, and I work as a doctor. Currently, I’m serving as a Senior Medical Officer at an ENT Hospital.
I completed my MBBS from Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College, Bogura. I’m really passionate about surgery and always looking for opportunities to learn and grow professionally.
In my free time, I enjoy playing outdoor games and musical instruments. My future goal is to become a skilled surgeon and pursue higher education abroad. Right now, I’m also working on improving my English communication skills.
Nice to meet you all!
IELTS Speaking Style Version
Examiner: Can you tell me about yourself?
Answer:
Well, my name is Md. Gulam Rabbani, although most people call me Roky. I’m from Dhaka, Bangladesh, where I was born and raised. I work as a Senior Medical Officer at an ENT Hospital and previously worked in the Plastic Surgery Department as an Assistant Registrar.
I completed my MBBS from Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogura. I’m particularly interested in surgery, but I also enjoy learning about other areas of medicine such as intensive care and nephrology.
In my spare time, I like playing outdoor sports and musical instruments. Looking to the future, I hope to pursue advanced surgical training abroad and continue developing both my medical and communication skills.
This version sounds natural, friendly, and suitable for casual conversations while still highlighting Dr. Rabbani’s professional background and ambitions.
