Present Indefinite Tense Practice
Mr. Krishna: Let us begin with the Present Indefinite Tense. Please answer using simple present tense because I am asking about your general habits and daily activities.
Mr. Krishna: Eng. Rana, what do you usually do in your free time?
Eng. Akteruzzaman Rana: In my free time, I usually watch short films, reels, and educational videos. Besides that, I love cooking special dishes like tehari and pakhon pitha. I also search for curious and informative topics on Google and AI platforms. Sometimes, I go shopping or visit beautiful places with my wife.
Mr. Krishna: Excellent. That is a very natural answer. You explained your hobbies very nicely.
Mr. Krishna: Dr. Meta, what do you usually do in your free time?
Dr. Meta: In my free time, I like watching Bengali dramas and listening to songs. I also enjoy cooking different kinds of food. Besides that, I like gardening, shopping, visiting restaurants, and spending time with relatives.
Mr. Krishna: Wonderful. That sounds very enjoyable. Do you love cooking?
Dr. Meta: Yes, Sir. I love cooking special food in my free time.

Present Continuous Tense Practice
Mr. Krishna: Now, let us move on to the Present Continuous Tense. This tense describes actions happening right now.
Mr. Krishna: What are both of you doing now?
Dr. Meta and Eng. Rana: We are attending our English session.
Mr. Krishna: Excellent. That is a correct Present Continuous sentence.
Mr. Krishna: Nowadays, what are you doing regularly?
Eng. Akteruzzaman Rana: Nowadays, I am improving my English speaking skills and preparing for government job examinations. I am also working in a power company and handling commercial operations.
Dr. Meta: Nowadays, I am practicing English regularly and trying to improve my fluency. I am also focusing on my professional and personal development.
Mr. Krishna: Very good. These are excellent examples of Present Continuous Tense because the activities are continuing over a period of time.
Present Perfect Tense Practice
Mr. Krishna: Let us now practice the Present Perfect Tense. This tense describes actions that have already happened but are still connected to the present.
Mr. Krishna: Dr. Meta, can you tell me something you have done recently?
Dr. Meta: Recently, we have visited Dhaka Cantonment because my brother is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Bangladesh Army. We spent quality time together and enjoyed delicious homemade food.
Mr. Krishna: Excellent. Very natural and fluent answer.
Dr. Meta: We also visited different places in Dhaka and enjoyed our family gathering very much.

Mr. Krishna: Eng. Rana, can you tell me something you have done recently?

Present Perfect Continuous Tense Practice
Mr. Krishna: Now let us practice the Present Perfect Continuous Tense. This tense describes actions that started in the past and are still continuing.
Mr. Krishna: Eng. Rana, please give some examples.
Eng. Akteruzzaman Rana: I have been preparing for the Bangladesh Civil Service examination since my graduation. I have also been working in a reputed power company for several years. Recently, I have been working in techno-commercial operations and financial calculations.
Mr. Krishna: Outstanding answer. Very professional and fluent.
Mr. Krishna: Dr. Meta, can you give some examples?
Dr. Meta: I have been learning English for the last one month. I have also been searching for a suitable dress for several days.
Mr. Krishna: Excellent. Those are correct examples.

Mr. Krishna: Very good. That is also a correct sentence structure.
Discussion on the Importance of Tense
Mr. Krishna: Actually, tense is extremely important in English because tense helps us maintain the correct timeframe while speaking. If you want to describe a general truth, you use Present Indefinite. If something is happening now, you use Present Continuous. If something has already happened, you use Present Perfect. And if something has been continuing for a long time, you use Present Perfect Continuous.

Mr. Krishna: Excellent. Once the mechanism of tense becomes active inside your brain, speaking English becomes much easier and more accurate.
Past Tense Practice
Mr. Krishna: Now let us practice the Past Tenses. Eng. Rana, can you give some examples of Past Indefinite Tense?
Eng. Akteruzzaman Rana: Yesterday, I visited my office and completed several reports. After that, I met some officials and discussed important matters.
Mr. Krishna: Very good.
Mr. Krishna: Dr. Meta, can you give an example of Past Continuous Tense?
Dr. Meta: I was cooking dinner while my husband was watching television.
Mr. Krishna: Excellent sentence.

Mr. Krishna: Perfect. That is exactly how Past Perfect Tense works.
Future Tense Practice
Mr. Krishna: Now let us move on to Future Tense.

Eng. Akteruzzaman Rana: Tomorrow, I will reach my office before 9:30 a.m. Then I will visit several high officials related to the power sector. After completing my work, I will spend some relaxing time with my family.

Dr. Meta: Tomorrow, I will go to New Market to buy a bag for my mother for Eid-ul-Adha. Then we will go to a restaurant for lunch and later visit some shopping malls around Dhaka city.

Future Perfect and Future Perfect Continuous
Mr. Krishna: Finally, let us talk about Future Perfect and Future Perfect Continuous Tenses.
Mr. Krishna: For example:
- “By 3:00 p.m., I will have completed my office work.”
- “By next year, I will have been working in this company for five years.”
These tenses describe actions that will be completed in the future or actions that will continue up to a future point.
